Carved his way into my life

Love, Weekend Projects

pexels-photo-715807.pngI woke up to the sound of thunder and rain beating the glass. Wobbling in pyjamas with my eyes half open, I reached out to the handle and closed the window. There was another roar and every corner of my bedroom was lit. A cold shiver ran down my spine and I huddled back into the blanket and closed my eyes.
Although quite confident that I had sufficient time to get ready for work I didn’t want to take any chances. I swept across my bed and grabbed my phone. It was 5:45 am. I knew, in just 15 more minutes my alarm would wreck the newly concocted dream. I sighed and sat with my back slouching against the wall. Still debating to slide back or throw the blanket away, I recalled that I had arranged an early call with someone.

Someone who might carve his way into my life.

I opened my eyes. Today was not the day to fall back into slumber. I turned off the air conditioner and brushed my arms to warm up quickly. I had ample time to make some tea and shower before the clock strikes 6:45. My friend, a real matchmaker was trying her best to hook me up with someone; anyone. I didn’t want to upset her and agreed to take the call. The only thing I knew about him was that he is from California. The Timezone difference and our early call made perfect sense.

My phone rang and I gave him his first gold star for punctuality. We exchanged pleasantries and he gave a brief introduction about himself. The voice on the other end of the line was deep, rich and magnetic. The hypnotic trance compelled me to reveal all my secrets. I pinched myself hard to break out of this powerlessness and stick to the conversation. There was excitement in my voice and I wondered if he could see the changing color of my cheeks.

Well, he asked me out and I gladly accepted.
